In this quartet of neo-noir tales, a mysterious salesman (Josh Hartnett) narrates a tragic story of co-dependency, while a musclebound vigilante (Mickey Rourke) tears his way through the criminal underworld in search of his lost love (Jaime King). In another part of the city, a grizzled cop (Bruce Willis) foils the ambitions of a child-killer (Nick Stahl), and an ex-prostitute (Brittany Murphy) evades her ex-pimp (Benicio del Toro) with the help of her new boyfriend, Dwight (Clive Owen).

Rodriguez and Miller bring the latter's pulpy source material to stunning life, with pops of colour to complement the stark black and white cinematography. The Noir-inspired content means plenty of gender stereotypes, but Willis and Rourke shine.

Very unique cinematography that makes the movie better than it would be without it. Each shot looking and sounding like a comic book is the main appeal of the film. Story is also ok in a short story kind of fashion where often not too much happens and then is quickly resolved. Actors are great and some of them feel like they walked right out of a comic book. And of course all the sexy ladies is a nice added bonus the film does not hold back on.

Neo Noir movie following edgy comic book style antiheroes. Very very stylistic. Dark, cool, a jazzy back beat, moves along with pace, an unbelievable cast, what's not to like! I'm surprised it isn't rated higher. In terms of the content, it's a bit like the Rorschach parts of Watchmen. The plots interweave like a Tarantino film.
