When John Connor (Jason Clarke), leader of the human resistance against Skynet, sends Kyle Reese (Jai Courtney) back to 1984 to protect his mother, Sarah (Emilia Clarke), from a Terminator assassin, an unexpected turn of events creates an altered timeline. As flashy as it is with tremendous and eye-popping special effects, it has created an extremely convoluted mess of merged timelines and revisionist storytelling that treads all over what made the 1984 original and superior 1991 sequel so great.

I really liked it. I don't think it's nearly as good as Terminator 2 but still worth a watch. The action is fun, Emilia Clark and Jai Courtney both did a good job as Young Sarah Conner and Kyle Reese in my opinion. And, Arnold Schwarzenegger is an absolute scene-stealer as the T-800. He never misses. I would also say that Lorne Balfe delivers a good score. Sure, he's no Brad Fiedel (The Terminator theme is always iconic) but you can tell he did his best to build off of what Brad did. So, yeah. Overall, I would say go watch it! Wish we got another PG-13 Terminator movie.

This was a decent movie. I don't fully understand some of the "hate" in the audience reviews. If you really love the original actors, then sure, maybe you might be disappointed. We've learned to love these original actor portrayals. It's kind of like hearing your favorite song sung by another singer. It's hard to accept new actors replacing the original characters such as Sarah and Reese, but it still works. The glue, however, that keeps this film together is Schwarzenegger. Without him, I probably would not have watched this film. Not the best Terminator film in the series, but still worth watching.

This movie tells the tale of two Terminators; a film that starts out promising and an utterly incoherent train wreck in the second half. Genisys is another failed attempt to return the Terminator series to form.
