Following her rescue from the devastating Quarter Quell, Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) awakes in the complex beneath the supposedly destroyed District 13. Her home, District 12, has been reduced to rubble, and Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) is now the brainwashed captive of President Snow (Donald Sutherland). At the same time, Katniss also learns about a secret rebellion spreading throughout all of Panem -- a rebellion that will place her at the center of a plot to turn the tables on Snow.

This is certainly a film adults can get into. The explosions, propaganda techniques, and unrest are a reminder of a history not entirely out of reach; a world and society all too realistic. for many living today.

Mockingjay Part 1 is not a flawless story from start to finish ... but I still love it for taking the unexpected route of a slow-burn political thriller that dives deeper into the power of intellectual and media-driven warfare.

Set aside criticisms about dividing the final film. Mockingjay Part 1 is a serviceable extrapolation of the series' interest in personal vs public responsibility & PTSD. The adult cast is stacked, though dir Lawrence's focus is clearly action over actors

I felt this one lacked the vigor and intensity of the previous two movies, but it was still amazing. Seeing the rise of a revolution against a cruel regime is always refreshing in a series such as The Hunger Games, and the story had plenty of awesome and action-packed moments to leave you hooked. Philip Seymour Hoffman is truly missed, and his performance added so much to this movie and the previous one. I definitely recommend this for action, adventure, thriller, and sci-fi fans, and for fans of The Hunger Games series!

It was entertaining, in the first 45 minutes there isn’t a ton of dialogue, it is more show than tell, but the story ramps up with more dialogue in the second half, the cinematography was pretty good like all the other films in the series, not the best in the franchise, but definitely not the worst, 8.1/10

Greetings from Lithuania. "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1" (2014) is a truly enjoyable movie, if you liked the first two. I'm not a fan of the series, and don't wait for these movies to come up, haven't read books and i don't even try to watch them as soon as possible, but when i do I enjoy them very much. Part 1 continuous the story where it left in previous movie, but i won't go into details here. If you liked first movies, you will like this one as well nevertheless it doesn't feature any games this time. It's all about revolution from now. Overall, Part 1 is a solid movie on it's own and a great warm up to the final chapter. It's has some solid acting (especially from the lead, but no wonder here), nice settings, interesting and involving plot, very good special effects (although there aren't many of them here). Looking forward for a final installment.
