The Martian is a film about human error, the will to survive, and the responsibility that we have as human beings, not just to the work that we dedicate our lives to, but to one another as people. Go to Full Review

A half-hour into The Martian any seasoned moviegoer can figure out where the plotline in this feel-good movie has to go. That's a shame and the film's biggest transgression. Go to Full Review

tericee 11/22/2024 Just as good as the book! See more Romas M @Romas 1d Greetings from Lithuania. "The Martian" (2015) is not "Interstellar" type or level sci-fi movie, but it is superb picture. It's funny, superbly paced, greatly acted story. Special effects were very good, and they are used here to support the story, which is very simple, but very intriguing. Matt Damon carried this film in a superb performance - it's a great performance and he delivered. I also liked Jeff Daniels acting, great work. Others were very solid. Pacing of this movie is superb, at running time 2 h 30 (extended version) minutes it runs very smoothly and doesn't drag for a second. Music was ... lets just say great in a context of disco music. Special effects were excellent as well as sound design, editing and cinematography. Overall, "The Martian" takes itself seriously, but doesn't forget humor, which there is a lot in this movie. This is probably the warmest movie about Mars of all time, there are no villains, no aliens, just a man will to survive at any cost. See more Nathaniel H. @nshamilt 2d Such a fun movie and a great adaptation of the book! See more Stephen G. @Mangaloverx999x 2d Great movie. One matt Damon's best movies. See more Par H @Parhwy 3d The Martian (2015) is a 151-minute-long sci-fi (USA) which I rewatched (on the DVD I own) in May 2026. I say rewatch because I have watched this film… tens of times. Tens and tens. This is my Covid film. Isolation. Talking to myself. Self-reliance. Growing potatoes (well, I was growing tomatoes... tomatoes, potatoes, same same). Hope. Helplessness... Home. I own the commercial release and extended versions. The extended only gives content which makes some main characters look more human yet weird or unlikeable. Casting is chefs kiss. Music and editing is swish. And so on and so on. Having watched it so many times, I am both the best and worst judge of its measure. Rewatch? LOL. Recommend? Ah, yes. 9/10.
