01/15/2018 Not very well crafted but loaded with heart. See more 04/27/2015 The movie was fantastic. I really enjoyed it. To me one of the morals of the story is not only do the young learn from the old, but old dogs can in fact learn new tricks. Often there are generational struggles based essentialy on lack of empathy. We fail to understand the perspective of someone else. But for me, this story creates union rather than divide. It depicts all the characterers including the traditional "bad guys" with compassion. Another thing, I really like the way the whole thing was shot. It makes we want to travel to the midwest and south. I don't know the US so well ironically. The open space shots of fields and country side add well to the long road the characters must take. Needless to say the actors were great. Their musical talent is really, really speical. I enjoyed the blend of music a lot ! The rapping was terrific and the rapper who played Sam wonderful. See more 12/31/2014 We are Kings had a great premise. The musical performances were sensational and it drew me in and made me fall in love with Blues all over again. I did expect a bit more though. I found the characters to be a bit shallow and the screenplay lacked a little substance. Overall a good watch and again, the musical performances...Brilliant !
