What appears to be a comet slows, hovers and stops, then bursts forth to reveal 4,400 people who were presumed dead or missing over the past 50 years. They look exactly the same as the moment they disappeared, but some of the returnees now have special powers. After one of the 4,400 commits a murder, a special division of the Homeland Security Department is formed to monitor them.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

The 4400 persuasively evokes a national mood by grounding its sci-fi premise in the deeply personal, letting its dynamic actors wow audiences more than visual effects ever could.

Brian Lowry Variety Oct 13, 2018
The production reveals too little at too leisurely a pace and has the feel of being assembled on the cheap -- cutting corners some places, presumably, to load up on others. Go to Full Review

Shows about alien abduction are an acquired taste. 'The 4400' has the good sense to keep aliens and abduction abstract and concentrate on ordinary people struggling to understand the unexplainable. Go to Full Review

If you're in a charitable mood, or indeed are an active connoisseur of B-grade science fiction, that may be enough. And there may be surprises ahead -- some revelation beyond expectation. I'm willing, even hoping, to be surprised. Go to Full Review

What distinguishes The 4400 is its representation of the sense of alienation that pervades post-9/11 America. Go to Full Review

Monai P. @Salooloo Mar 27, 2026 I love this show. And been on the look out for where I can see it again. I love everything about it See more Amanda P. @AJ1368 Mar 8, 2026 I loved this show all the way except for the ending. See more Beatle R @BeatleRing Dec 23, 2023 I did enjoy the season and the series but a lot of questions were not answered by the time it ended. See more jon c Sep 29, 2021 I've heard of this show in passing and only saw commercials but never got around to watching it Now that the CW is rebooting it I figure nows a time as good as any This was actually the first show of its kind in the sci-if genre to try something like this Basically along the lines of ‘Glitch' and most recently ‘Manifest' this involves a group of 4400 people going missing First a little girl in 1946 then a Vietnam war soldier in 1951 then some teenagers in 2001 All of them were inexplicably taken by a bright shining light and never seen or heard dark again The department of homeland security in the Detroit branch in present day catch wind of a supposed comet approaching earths atmosphere, unsure of what it is it's big, bright, and puzzling But as it turns out it actually brings back all those who vanished years ago; unfortunately they have no idea how much time has passed and haven't aged a single day since So why were these people chosen? What happened to them exactly? How can they adjust to this strange new world where everything has drastically changed? 3 people in particular gain supernatural abilities from telekinesis to seeing the future to draining someone's life force This first season is surprisingly short but accomplishes a lot with suspense, drama, and science-fiction Manages to have the characters go through tough ordeals considering the inexplicable event of disappearing It's also has people ask questions but fills them with fear, hostility, and even violence matching out post 9/11 fears Many can still exhibit hate, prejudice, and bloodshed no matter how much time passes Even the alienation itself can be dwindling Not a bad start to this series and I'm hoping more answers can be provided about the returnees See more Apr 16, 2020 مسلسل خيال علمي يتناول فرضية اكتساب بعض الأفراد (٤٤٠٠ فرد) قدرات خارقة مختلفة وكيف يتعاملون فيما بينهم ويتعاملون مع غيرهم. See more Jun 30, 2019 4400 very intriguing at the first season, with so many surprised and turn even scenario. But just like other series, they prolonged it too long untill the writer seems running out of idea how to continue or end the series. What i dont like is they stop the series without closure for big fans like me... i really hope they continue the series or make a movie version of it!! See more Read all reviews
