Was inspired to pursue acting after taking an acting class at university.Made her professional debut in 1979, playing Lucie Manette in a TV adaptation of A Tale of Two Cities.Won the 1981 Laurence Olivier Award for Most Promising Newcomer for her role in a West End production of Arms and the Man.Is perhaps best known for her role as the Borg Queen in the Star Trekfranchise.Was awarded an honorary Litt.D. degree in 2004 from Rhodes University.
