Morris, the oldest son of two GPs, was educated at Stoneyhurst College and Bristol University, where he read Zoology. His upbringing, and in particular, his education, has been the source of much media speculation, especially after the post-Brass Eye Special tabloid backlash. The tabloids focused on Stoneyhurst, a reportedly 'strict Jesuit college', where there was a scandal some years ago centred around allegations of child abuse. The tabloid hacks, perhaps unable to repress their seething hatred for Brass Eye - and perhaps even their class-envy - reported that pupils were beaten with a whale-bone strap, and then gloated over the fact that Morris apparently refused to take part in the police investigation into the abuse allegations. Morris hardly ever comments on his childhood, but admits the college was not 'run through the hills naked strict,' perhaps implying that the reports of his education - from both sniping Right and slavishly worshipping Left - were exaggerated.
