  • Beautiful American actress Dorothy Dell (born Dorothy Goff) got her start at age 15 when she won both the Miss America and Miss Universe contests. She then became a vaudeville performer and after that broke into radio. By 1931, she was a featured singer in the Ziegfeld Follies. This led her to appear in a few short films for Vitaphone and then to a contract with Paramount. In 1934, she appeared in three films, including Little Miss Marker, and then before she could become a star, she tragically died in an automobile accident.
