Classically trained at the Banff School of Fine Arts and celebrated in her native country for her brilliant stage interpretations of Shaw and Ibsen, Canadian actress Helen Shaver made her American debut in, of all things, a TV sitcom -- 1980's United States. Neither this nor her second series Jessica Novak (1981) was successful, but she remained in demand in films and theatre productions in both the U.S. and Canada. The best of Shaver's many movie roles include fortyish Ann MacDonald in In Praise of Older Women (filmed in 1978, when she was 25) and Paul Newman's ever-patient lady friend in The Color of Money (1986). Additionally, Shaver was showcased in several made-for-TV movies, among them Lovey: A Circle of Children 2 (1978) and This Park is Mine (1985).

QUOTES FROM Helen Shaver CHARACTERS

Littlefoot says: Mother, what's a long neck?

Littlefoot's Mother says: Well, that's what we are, Dear.

Littlefoot says: Why can't I play with that three-horn? We were having fun.

Littlefoot's Mother says: Well, we all stick to our own kinds. The three-horns, the spike-tails, the swimmers, the flyers... we never do anything together.

Littlefoot says: Why?

Littlefoot's Mother says: Because we're different. It's always been that way.

Littlefoot says: Well, why?

Littlefoot's Mother says: Oh, don't worry so much. When we reach the Great Valley, there'll be many many long necks for you to play with.

Littlefoot says: [sighs] I wish we were there now.

Littlefoot's Mother says: Well, it's a long way yet. Past the Great Rock that Looks Like a Long Neck, and pass the Mountains that Burn... still a long way, but we'll get there.

Littlefoot says: Have you ever seen the Great Valley?

Littlefoot's Mother says: No.

Littlefoot says: Well, how do you know it's really there?

Littlefoot's Mother says: Some things you see with your eyes, others you see with your heart.

Littlefoot says: I don't understand, Mother.

Littlefoot's Mother says: You will, my son. You will.

Littlefoot says: Mother? Please get up.

Littlefoot's Mother says: I'm... not sure I can, Littlefoot.

Littlefoot says: Yes you can. Get up!

Littlefoot's Mother says: Some things you see with your eyes. Others, you see with your heart.

Littlefoot's Mother says: Now, you be careful, my Littlefoot.

Littlefoot says: [yawns]

Grandfather says: Ha ha.

Littlefoot's Mother says: Beautiful Littlefoot.

Littlefoot's Mother says: Dear sweet Littlefoot...do you remember the way to the Great Valley?

Littlefoot's Mother says: Dear sweet Littlefoot... do you remember the way to the Great Valley?

Littlefoot says: I guess so... But why do I have to know if you're going to be with me?

Littlefoot says: I guess so... but why do I have to know if you're going to be with me?

Littlefoot's Mother says: I'll be with you. Even if you can't see me.

Littlefoot says: What do you mean I can't see you? I can always see you.

Littlefoot's Mother says: Littlefoot...let your heart guide you. It whispers...so listen closely...

Littlefoot's Mother says: Littlefoot, let your heart guide you. It whispers, so listen closely.

Littlefoot says: Mother...? Mother...?

Littlefoot says: Mother? Mother?

Jeff says: Now you're beginning to give me the creeps.

Carolyn says: There was a tribe of Indians called the Shinnecocks, and they used this land as a sort of exposure pen. They put all the crazy people here and left them here to die...My God! - That's where it is.

Jeff says: What the hell are you talking about?

Carolyn says: There are people buried here.

George Lutz says: I'll go in and talk to Kathy, and you all come in in a couple of minutes.

Jeff says: (Carolyn walks toward the house) - He told us to wait out here.

Carolyn says: Jeff...I gotta see it for myself.

Carolyn says: Jeff. I gotta see it for myself.

Jeff says: I thought that place gave you the creeps.

Carolyn says: Are those vibes ever strong. It really pulls on you. I gotta see the basement. That's where it's coming from. I'm very sensitive about these things. And I know about them.

Jeff says: Come on; knock it off, will you?

George Lutz says: (at the bar) - The house is doing things. I mean, windows open by themselves. Rooms full of flies at the wrong time of year...You saw what happened to Greg's hand. It's crazy. Last night the front door was ripped off its hinges from the inside.

Jeff says: So?

Carolyn says: They ran him out of Salem for being a witch. And he built his house exactly where you're living. You're living on some sort of special ground...devil worship...death...sacrifice. George, there's one simple rule...Energy cannot be created or destroyed. It can only change forms.

Jeff says: Carolyn, will you get a grip on yourself? You sound like some kind of psycho weirdo!

Carolyn says: Come on, Jeffrey. Don't be such a hard-core rationalist. Everything in life cannot be explained by a slide rule.

Jeff says: Thank you very much for your cosmic views. Now do me a favor...SHUT UP!
