Actress/singer Irene Manning (born Inez Harvout in Cincinnati) started out performing in operettas. Originally billing herself as Hope Manning, she played romantic leads in a number of Gene Autry Westerns. Later she changed the name to Irene and began playing leads in Warner Bros. films during the '40s. Before the decade's end, she was again performing on-stage in musicals, operettas, and the occasional dramatic role.
