American rapper and actor Joyner Lucas was born Gary Maurice Lucas Jr. on August 17, 1988 in Worcester, Massachusetts. Raised in the Boston area, Lucas began rapping at age ten and produced his first solo mixtape, "Listen to Me", in 2011. His second mixtape, "Along Came Joyner" (2015) featured the song "Ross Capicchioni" which got the attention of the industry. Shortly after, Lucas was invited to participate in the 2015 BET Hip-Hop Awards live cypher. He released his first studio mixtape "508-507-2209" (2017) through Atlantic Records. His single "I'm Not Racist" (2017), released on YouTube, went viral for its powerful lyrics about race relations from the perspectives of a black man and a white man. The video was nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Music Video in 2019. Lucas followed this success by releasing his debut studio album "ADHD" (2020). Branching out into acting, he appeared with Mark Wahlberg in the film "The Family Plan" (2023) and played a gang leader in "Bad Boys: Ride or Die" (2024). Joyner Lucas released his second studio album "Not Now I'm Busy" on March 22, 2024.
