Nicknamed "the Mailman." Selected 13th overall by the Utah Jazz in the 1985 NBA draft. Half of a famous Jazz tandem with John Stockton, who was drafted in 1984. 13-time All-Star; named NBA MVP in 1997 and strike-shortened 1999. Part of the 1992 U.S. Olympic basketball team, dubbed the Dream Team, which was the first Olympic team fielded by the U.S. that included NBA players. Jersey No. 32 retired in Utah, as well as at his alma mater, Louisiana Tech. Elected to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2010 along with the Dream Team as a whole. The Jazz immortalized Malone and Stockton with side-by-side statues outside the EnergySolutions Arena, and renamed sections of the roads where the arena and statues stand as the intersection of Karl Malone and John Stockton Drives. Donated to George W. Bush's 2004 re-election campaign.
