Blessed with natural comic timing and a versatile voice, Kate Simses moved quickly from animated series to starring roles on situation comedies like "Mixology" (ABC, 2014) and "Dr. Ken" (ABC, 2015- ). Born in New York City, Simses entered the film and television industries as a voice actor, lending her versatile voice to animated series and audiobooks. Roles in front of the camera followed in 2006, mostly in comedy features and TV series like "Confessions of a Shopaholic" (2009) and "Important Things with Demetri Martin" (Comedy Central, 2009). Simses continued to alternate minor on-screen acting roles with voice work for cartoons and video games until 2011, when she was promoted to a supporting turn as one of Anna Faris' sidekicks in romantic comedy "What's Your Number?" (2011). The following year, Simses created and starred in the web series "Sylvia Plath: Girl Detective," a spoof of mystery film tropes with Simses as the eponymous poet turned sleuth. In 2014, she became a series regular on "Mixology," a romantic comedy from executive producer Ryan Seacrest about the misadventures of several men and women in search of love in a single night at a Manhattan bar. Simses played Liv, an upbeat young woman contending with the end of her engagement, on the series, which was canceled after its debut season; the following year, she returned to ABC for "Dr. Ken," a comedy starring doctor-turned-actor Ken Jeong.
