Jul 09, 2011Gene Hackman is the real showcase for this film and without his presence this would be yet another thriller. The filmmaker Peter Hyams was a 80s and 90s genre style storyteller and he even managed a sequel to the masterpiece 2001. Narrow Margin is a lot of fun and offers a fun premise. The only catch is that the villains and characters are quite damaged by stupidity. The villains slowly look for this woman and never seem relentless in their quest. The film is best when its just having fun and not spending time on the character moments. Narrow Margin is a remake and I'm yet to see the original but viewing this film is like a filmmaker attempting to replicate Alfred Hitchcock. There were many early 90s thrillers that fit this mould and Narrow Margin is no different. It looks incredible on HD and if you found the film interesting on release, now is another chance to see it on modern technology. The filmmaker serves as his own DOP and the shots are well constructed. The filmmaking is quite strong but the characters depth and lack of coherent thought hurt this film. 31/05/2020brendan n Super Reviewer

Jan 14, 2010What an incredible gripping tale of the limits a man will go to protect a witness to the prosecution of a murder case. This is one edge of your seat thriller that gently lets go of your emotions at the very end.
