Can it really be 20 years ago this film hit the big screen? Denzel buddy you are getting old. The only bad thing about this movie is that it comes in Letterbox format. can someone tell me the reason behind this worthless format. The movie itself is one that put Denzel over the top. Don't thnk it would go over well in todays society with a half naked Dad running to a childrens program with a gun in his hand,, he'd be shot before he hit the stage no questions asked. Full of excitement and thrills amd John Lithgow is a crazy man. 4 Stars 2-17-13

Denzel Washington is a prosperous, respected, happily married District Attorney. John Lithgow is a prisoner whom Washington sent up the river years ago. Lithgow and a friend escape, murdering everyone in their path and fakes his own death thereupon devoting himself to making Washington's life miserable. His frame-up of Washington is really devilishly skillful. Lithgow plays the criminal out to get revenge and boy, is he scary! I wouldn't want him after me. *Warning Spoiler* He conks the unsuspecting DA on the head, takes him to an empty swimming pool at an empty club, drugs him into near insensibility, and videotapes him having sex with a hooker who, as it later turns out, is also giving him the clap. Washington finally wakes up to find himself in rags amongst a community of homeless people. WELL! Nobody believes his story of course. Lithgow even kills his friend and fellow officer, nicely played by Kevin Pollak and guess who is the fall guy?
