"The Odyssey" sails swiftly, entertainingly, and meaninglessly before stopping cold at what's supposed to be one of literature's most suspenseful climaxes. Go to Full Review

Even though the made-for-TV movie is only four hours long, I wasted a fifth stewing over how godawful it was. Go to Full Review

"The Odyssey" works, on the grandest of all imaginable scales. Go to Full Review

While some liberties have been taken with Homer's story, there is just enough poetry in the narration to make "The Odyssey" sing. Go to Full Review

Jim C @J.Randolph 1d A magnificent effort. Stunning, earth-shaking, and like the book, it is long. Like most Christopher Nolan movies, you can watch this over and over to catch all of the nuances. See more Rudy W @RT28890126 1d It's the best adaptation of Homer's poetry; the 2026 version is boring and shows no respect for Homer's original work. If you want the most faithful adaptation, as Homer intended, then you should watch the 1997 version, and if you just want action, then you should watch the 2026 version. See more Alberto L @algabo 1d It's not bad but it looks really cheap. See more Scott L @RT57278046 2d This version is far more moving emotionally than the 2026 version. See more Daniel S @RT15600025 2d The best adaption of the Odyssey, it keeps the main components of the Homer's material that the 2026 movie excludes. Here you can see why Odyseus is the smartest and most tactical greek hero, his weapon is his mind and not his sword. The female character such as Penelope, Calipso, Athena and Circe are correctly represented and had key elements in the journey. See more Hanzel E @RT97426743 3d I found it hard to follow. I didn't know who the characters were based on the dialogue and scene progression. You would have to be a scholar of Greek mythology to know who was supposed to be what character. I want my money and my 3 hours back. See more Read all reviews
