So generic and perfunctory in nature that it's difficult to become involved or stay immersed in the action.
Just a bad low-budget 3D B-movie creature sci-fi adventure film, but (oy vez) with deadly spiders.
Given the choice of being stuck in a tomb with spiders for 90 minutes or watching Guardians of the Tomb, I'd choose the tomb.
A guilty pleasure.
For me, this film sucked. Big time. Kelsey Grammer's cheeky contribution to this silly, monotonous movie is one of those debt reduction efforts that actors use to pay off mortgages - for him or one of his seven children - and alimony expenses.
The more one seriously considers the film, the more slapdash and poorly executed it becomes.
It's not awful as far as B movies go, but it never quite manages to become entertaining enough to warrant a recommendation either.
7 Guardians of the Tomb is repetitive and monotonous, displaying little wit or self-awareness or genuine stakes.
Incredibly dumb and tedious.
Rendall can only do so much with the limited budget and thespian talents gathered, leaving "7 Guardians of the Tomb" straining to be the high-flying good time at the movies it wants to become.
This telling would be of above-average quality on the SyFy Channel and that is probably where it is heading.
The film lacks dash to the dialogue, excitement to the set-pieces, and enduring creepiness to the malevolent arachnids. Nothing in Guardians of the Tomb has a decent bite.
Marvelously bad -- yet engaging enough to still entertain. This wouldn't be the worst choice of B-movie night.
