James Stockton (Scott Bakula) is an upstanding small-town citizen: a family man, land developer, volunteer and Little League coach. But James is secretly Johnny Mancini, a Mafioso who disappeared in New Jersey 14 years ago, in possession of a "black book" of all the mob's illegal dealings. When a pair of cops (Ed Asner, George Dzundza) discover his new identity, James has to tell his wife (Annabella Sciorra) and daughter everything, risking his marriage, his new life and his freedom.
