Blake- N @PBSAniDom Apr 21 Artemis Fowl is a terrible adaptation that takes a decent novel and drains out nearly everything that made it worth reading. What should have been a clever, exciting fantasy adventure instead becomes a lifeless, rushed mess with no real sense of tone, tension, or charm. The story feels chopped up and confused, like it is speeding through major plot points without giving any of them time to breathe. The characters are flattened beyond recognition, and the film strips away the intelligence and personality that should have made Artemis stand out. The world-building, which should have been the biggest selling point, is handled in a way that feels cheap and incomplete. Overall, this is a frustrating, disappointing, and completely unnecessary adaptation that wastes its source material almost immediately. It is easily a 0/10. Root should have been changed to the female flight commander so we could still have Judi dench in it while keeping Roots character male. Heck just keep the original story but swap Roots character with the flight commander. In the 30 mins I have seen this is not as so many people have said correct to the books. Fowls are criminals and Artemis knew this. Should’ve made this into to a mini series movie or show with first book and second correctly done. The acting was atrocious and the casting choices hardly fit the source characters. In all honesty you could change the title and character names and I might not even know it was based off of the book series.
