Movie Info

Set in the near future, Atlantis tells the story of Sergiy, a soldier suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder who finds himself stuck in the then uninhabitable Eastern Ukraine. After the smelter he works at shuts down, he decides to join a volunteer group that exhumes the bodies of war victims. Somehow, the mission allows him to cope with his inability to adapt to his new reality. He meets Katya, and through working with her, he starts to believe in a better future.

  • Atlantis is a hard and raw ethical and aesthetic exploration of the real and spiritual landscapes of the postwar, a voice in favor of the disappeared ones. [Full Review in Spanish]

  • Sensitively observed and meticulously crafted... proves to be both intimate character study and powerful exploration of the ravages of war on mankind and his environment.
