Henri M @Riton 2d This film is fantastic in all aspects. The pictures (not by coincidence that it was rewarded with gold in Venizia) in Australia and in Belgium and the UK, the acting of the main players at top of their art : Jeremy Irons, Fanny Ardant, Tcheky Karyo and others ( especially the little girl in Australia, the story and the topics. The multi-dimension of the film with the psychology in a region hit by declining industry in Europe (Wool traitement in the mid-50ties) in a family split after the war; the relationship in a bourgeoisie; the temptation of an affaire to break the monotony of a conventional wedding. The whole in a light dramatic but not heavy description of the human destiny sometimes constrained by the context. See more Read all reviews
