Hasnain I @shirsho 4 days ago Expectations were higher to be honest. Nothing to say about the story. The screenplay was good as well, very well articulated. The thing that took away the flavor was Aishwarya as Binodini. Despite being a great actress, the character looks very offbeat. I think it's just the language barrier, as she doesn't speak Bangla and needed a dub. In many scenes, the actress didn't show the depth the character needed. As the movie is built around Binodini, it hurts the eyes. Prasenjit as Mahendra was the most perfect cast possible for it, brilliant performance by him as well. See more Apr 28, 2010 i never had anything particularly against aish before this but know i have reasonable motive to strangle her and hang her upside down. for any bengali who knows their cultural literature chokher bali is a masterpiece by none other than cultural god, rabrindanath thakur. instead of being cast for a role that requires u to wear a lehenga, look pretty and dance asihwariya was casted for a role that required the ability to portray a deep, complex charactar in a serious, sincere and thoughtful novel by thakur exploring the human mind and condition. obviusly if you choose a woman whose acting skills resemble my dancing skills, you will ruin a classic thanks aish, for dirtying bengali literature. thakur's soul has been upset.
