08/06/2010 "Cole Justice" is quite a bizarre little low-budget obscurity which may be the only movie in history where a film professor becomes a vigilante action hero; after witnessing his girlfriend get raped and murdered when they attend a screening of "Shane", the title character decides to dispense poetic justice by becoming a cowboy version of Charles Bronson and wiping out the scum of society. Alas, I wouldn't say he's the most efficient vigilante hero of all time; when he sees a girl getting gang-raped in a bar, he takes his sweet-ass time going out to his car and putting on his cowboy gear before he actually saves her! Anyway, "Cole Justice" is not a good movie by any stretch of the imagination as its badly acted and filled with silly dialogue and idiotic plotting, but curiousity seekers might want to give it a look since there really isn't anything else quite lke it. One of the movie's most surprising aspects has to be the amount of clips it shows from classic westerns like "Shane" and "Once Upon a Time in the West"; given the film's low budget, one has to wonder how they were to able to afford to pay for the rights to use this footage... or maybe the real question should be IF they paid for the rights to use this footage!
