While lightheartedness is not a quality one readily associates with Blier, the movie is more frankly entertaining than most of his previous work.
For those who buy into Blier's style, touching -- and funny -- human truths come shining through.
With perfume commercial pretentious shots scored to shrill opera and orchestral pomp, this is an insipid attempt to wring pathos from soft porn.
Paraded around by Blier in various cleavage-popping outfits (and often nothing at all), Bellucci is an amnesia-inducing, hot-blooded presence, blowing the top right off the film with her pristine, slap-yourself-in-the-face magnetism.
It is likely that most viewers will be too distracted by Bellucci's pronounced physical charms to realize just how flat and unconvincing the rest of the movie truly is.
It is telling when a supporting character,...nicely played by [Jean-Pierre] Darroussin, garners far more empathy than the film's stars.
...may be preposterous, but it is not commonplace and for that it gets a mild recommendation.
...nothing short of a complete disaster...
An unfathomable film on many levels... There is no predictable emotional curve, no easy storyline for us to cling to. It's all at once confusing, bewitching and often irritating. Some may be inspired.
A mostly coherent fable that poses as a particularly low-brow sex comedy set in a faux high-brow, very stylised version of the Parisian night.
Wasn't overly keen on this one. Monica Bellucci plays a prostitute, and while she's attractive in a matronly type of way, she's certainly not a drop dead babe as is implied. Movie starts off pretty bland, picks up a little with the arrival of Gerard Depardieu as what I gather is her pimp/boyfriend. Then just slides straight back into silly. This movie I think could have worked if they had played it a bit straighter instead of stupid little fantasy sequences and Monica's character seemingly unable to make up her mind about anything at all. Might be worth a watch if you are a fan of Monica, but otherwise not really recommended.
A story about beauty, sex and Love.
Some interesting ideas but the movie is just a big disappointment
Oh my God, Monica Bellucci is such beautiful as she is in this arthouse-romance film and I like her nudity scenes. I believe she is the next new Sophia Loren. (She's from Italy)
