Vega A @RT52598320 03/19/2025 It was marketed differently from what it actually delivered. It is a more introspective character study rather than what was perhaps advertised. It is a tale focused on two self-centered men whose simple problems spiral into complexity, ultimately leading to personal revelations. The slower pace requires patience, but the third act brings the narrative together in a satisfying way. It may not a film that I’ll revisit, however there is definitely an entertainment factor and emotional payoff. The strong cinematography and actors performances seem to be highlights as well. It buries the promised serial killer plot under a mountain of unnecessary subplots about male ego and financial woes. The characters' motivations are thin, their eventual team-up feels forced, and the film ultimately delivers little more than a cliché message about taking help from your family. Any potential for deeper exploration of Filipino immigrant struggles in Japan is squandered, leaving a hollow and ultimately uninteresting experience. See more Read all reviews
