Movie Info

In this costume melodrama, set in 19th-century India, Lt. William Savage, a highly-principled British officer is considered a bit of a rebel for his belief that the Indians should be treated fairly. Despite this, the newly-wed Savage is in line for a promotion in the East India Company for whom he works. His ascent is forever interrupted when he finds himself entangled with the Thugee, a murderous cult, after they brutally massacre bands of travelers. Savage captures the killers and talks one member into telling him the cult's secrets. This raises eyebrows amongst his employers who relieve him of his rank. Savage and a partner then involve themselves in the strange cult in hopes of stopping them.more

Audience Reviews for The Deceivers

I thought the film was quite enjoyable. Brosnan and Jaffrey were fantastic, and the film moved nicely. Nicholas Meyer shows again why he's great at creating tension in any kind of story and pulls no punches.

An interesting story that is sapped dry thanks to a few lame performances and some downright awful editing.
