      Critics Consensus

A highly entertaining entry in Disney's renaissance era," Aladdin is beautifully drawn, with near-classic songs and a cast of scene-stealing characters. Read critic reviews

I almost have to give this movie 5 stars just out of sheer childhood loyalty. This was my favorite Disney movie as a child. A huge part of that I'll admit was Robin Williams as the genie, but it's also just a genuinely fun adventure and one of the first great Disney adventure films. Seriously how have they not made a rollercoaster out of that Cave of Wonders escape? That scene is still awesome. But I digress. Watching it as an adult, honestly, it really holds up. Aladdin and Jasmine's relationship is strong even if it's quick, she's a very likable strong-willed character and he's a sneaky charmer. Jafar is probably the best Disney villain ever, and Iago is a great sidekick. That climax with the giant snake and mega-Genie? Come on! And of course Genie. What can I say, it's just Robin Williams riffing and them animating to that for the most part but damnit all if it doesn't still crack me up. So this is not so much a review as it is me saying "isn't this movie great?" but I mean, yeah, isn't this movie great?

From beginning to end, Aladdin is one of Disney's best and most enjoyable films that succeeds thanks to it's fabulous cast, breathtaking animation and show stopping music.

Disney's Aladdin is dazzling, perilous and full of enticing entertainment for the family. The animated classic's loving characters (including a flawless Robin Williams-voice-over performance) infectious musical numbers and Disney delight assures its credibility as one of the studio's best and most memorable. 4.5/5

More silly than Beauty and the Beast, but more fun than Pocahontas, Alladin is a worthwhile and more-or-less brilliant effort and entry into the disney canon. Robbin Williams' erratic and bouncy Genie steals the show unsuprisingly.
