Movie Info

Cartoonist Gus Kubicek (Steve Guttenberg) is a good guy, but he suffers from a poor track record with women. That's where his sister, Lizzie (Shelley Long), comes in. She's a successful romance novelist, and she knows what women want. When Lizzie remakes her mild-mannered brother into a hunky biker with an exotic accent, Gus finally gets a shot at the girl of his dreams: journalist Emily Pear (Jami Gertz). But, when the truth comes out, will she stick with him?

(1990 Director: Malcolm Mowbray) Entertaining tale of a brother (Steve Guttenberg) and sister (Shelley Long) and based on a book of the same title. Lizzie Potts ghost writes romance novels and is interviewed by Emily Pear (Jami Gertz). LIzzie introduces Emily to her brother Gus who has recently recovered from 2 years of treatments for cancer, which leaves him nearly bald, swollen and less than attractive in appearance when he meets Emily. Kyle MacLachlan co-stars as Emily's editor/boyfriend who is far from reliable. Gus & Lizzie conjure up a sherade for Emily to swoon over Gus, who with a lot of effort transforms himself in "Lobo" of New Zealand! Lots of laughs!
