The whole thing has clearly been put together on a tiny budget, and in truth has the feel of a filmed recording of a play more than an actual movie. Go to Full Review

Abiodun O @RT68461160 Jul 27 Executioner is a tense, intelligent thriller with outstanding performances from Christina Cole, Christian Greenway, Max Raphael and Peter Benedict. Sharp writing, gripping twists and atmospheric direction make this a compelling independent film that’s both thought-provoking and highly entertaining. See more George A @Arlington Jul 20 This is the sort of chiller thriller that Hitchcock would have made but with a wickedly villainous central performance to rival Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter. Benedict is unsettling enough to give you nightmares even before he starts punishing his enemies. It's not clear how he nabbed the gorgeous Christina Cole from 'Suits' as a wife but his description of the marriage is probably the most outrageous in a string of wisecracks. Benedict is credited as co director but he's barely off the screen so I imagine real credit for directing should go to Will Willoughby, who turns the single location into a claustrophobic psychological cage for the characters. If you're sick of predictable, cosy crime and fancy something with almost as many twists as laughs, you'll love this. See more Joseph P @Serendipitous Jul 20 The sort of stylish thriller I thought had died out. Other reviews focus entirely on the witty script but it's the way this film is shot that illuminates the screenplay in a way that makes it a potential classic. I saw this first at a festival but it was only when I rewatched on my tv that I realised how the lighting, the tight framing and the apparent absence of flashy/tricksy camerawork drew me deeper into the drama. Hard to believe this is a micro budget film. They don't come much classier. See more Robert M @Robert142 Jul 19 This intense clever and sophisticated thriller is sure to become a cult hit. Not unlike Hitchcock's Rope and Ira Levin's Deathtrap, but with more twists than both. It is theatrical and yet claustrophobic, which seems contradictory, but that is actually its USP. Headed by (and written by) Peter Benedict as a ghastly smug politician, oozing the rich and fruity villainy that was Vincent Price's trademark. There is menace in both the plot and language, relished by a small and talented cast. You'll be hooked! See more Clarisse E @Clarisse629 Jul 16 I was hooked from beginning to end. A very well written screenplay, with lots of puns and poetic references. Quite comedic at times despite the dark nature of the story. The plot twists are well distributed and interesting. Overall, this is a must see thriller. I highly recommend watching it! See more Petronius B @Malvolio Jul 14 Highly recommended by a friend, I wasn't sure about watching a film shot in one room but within minutes I realised why it never went outside. The location was incredibly atmospheric and the sealed door only added to the suspense. The references to other classic thrillers are pretty clever and the blend of pitch dark comedy and not so much 'whodunit' as 'has he done it' weaves through a truly fiendish battle of wits between the characters. Several times I felt smug about guessing what would come next, only to have the rug pulled from under me. The design is terrifically detailed and the cinematography incredibly impressive for a low budget indie. Although I only knew Christina Cole from SUITS, the rest of the cast are great. Peter Benedict in the lead role is simultaneously hilarious and frightening and I think Christian Greenway as his bodyguard is a star in the making. I don't know how it's possible for two people to direct one film but it worked. See more Read all reviews
