With its bed made just so, “Exit 8” has a refreshing ambition: It wants to be both a purgatory and an advancement in form. When it smoothly moves between the two, it feels like a singular commentary on life’s deceptive banalities. Go to Full Review

It works for a while, but there’s only so much one can do with such a confining, empty storyline. Even at 95 minutes, “Exit 8” seems stretched out. There’s simply not enough there for a feature-length movie. Go to Full Review

Still, there’s just enough for fans of the game or modern horror to chew on. If you wait to see it until PVOD or streaming, try watching it on a subway train on your way to work for maximum impact. Go to Full Review

EXIT 8 takes getting lost in an urban maze and cranks the experience up to eleven. It’s existentially unsettling and occasionally genuinely scary. Go to Full Review

Kawamura delivering an entertaining film when the source material so deliberately rejected the norms of traditional storytelling is extremely impressive. Go to Full Review

Exit 8 turns out to be entertaining despite its minimal construction. The director also has an excellent sense of timing. Go to Full Review

aimee 5h A man finds himself in a repeating subway corridor and must identify anomalies to progress, with a single mistake resetting the loop. A subway corridor becomes an endless nightmare loop in Exit 8 haunting and immersive... but it's the stylish presentation and the strong camerawork and direction, inspired visuals, solid performances, and layers of intrigue that kept it engaging.. Great performances too.. It's all about the finding the wrong things and making the right moves. And fighting the dread of no escape.. I didn’t play the game but I enjoyed this film all the same.. 4 out of 5 for me. The theater seats were very uncomfortable 😬 so it wasn’t the best viewing experience but I did really enjoy this film. See more Hanzhi 8h Felt like an actual game play but was hoping for more plot haha. Good in general, I enjoyed it. See more Todosho 14h It was fun watching my wife get frustrated at the characters choices, and I told her “this was what it was like to watch you play”. Her arms even flared when he missed the glaring anomaly See more Adam 1d Kept my interest throughout. Kept me guessing what and why. I was not familiar with the video game the movie is based on.
