Critic Reviews for Flower
Flower is redeemed only by Zoey Deutch's magnetic performance, which would be star-making if in the service of a better vehicle.
Becomes slightly more bearable when it tries to be serious after failing so badly to be hip and funny, but embedded within the later dramatic scenes are desperately dumb plot decisions that lead us to a calamitous ending.
Flower is a dark comedy with touches of Bonnie and Clyde towards the end and definitely deserves your consideration.
In the end, Flower buckles underneath its attempt at balancing its plethora of tones, ultimately abandoning the emotional journey of its central character in favor of a tidier ending.
It's full of great lines and small pleasures, particularly the performances, including yet another layered and memorable Kathryn Hahn turn.
