You know there's something wrong with a sex movie when the good parts are the dialogue.
Offers only dull characters playing for extremely low stakes.
Too lazy and too scared to say anything pertinent about love, society and the human condition, "Four Lovers" is content to be a pleasant, mildly titillating divertissement with no meaning at all.
You can waste your time with hotter options.
Cordier remains sensitive to the subtle shifts in the foursome's dynamics, but do we really need another handwringer about the perils of polyamory?
The results are mildly surprising, somewhat predictable, and mostly mundane.
This handsome mate-swapping drama never moves beyond the erotic to become incisive about the barriers built into sexual experimentation for committed couples.

Perpetuating the cliché that most modern Gauls are skinny, sexed-up chain smokers, Antony Cordier's frank but feeble drama is the sort of film that people who never watch French films think all French films are like.
The inevitable happens. You can count the minutes until it gets ugly.
