Movie Info

Two estranged brothers are brought back together by the death of their mother. Her dying wish is to see them return to their birthplace and reunite with their abusive, alcoholic father. They set out on a journey that leads them to their hometown full of dark memories that the younger brother doesn't remember and the older brother wants to forget. As each brother reconnects to the town and its people, they struggle to find the meaning of home, both for those who stay and for those who leave. Ultimately, they must confront the memory and the man of their father and are forced to choose between forgiveness and bitterness.

Critic Reviews for Generational Sins

All Critics (6) | Top Critics (2)

A dull, sluggish effort that doesn't avoid a single cliche.

October 8, 2017 | Full Review…

It's more reflective of the human experience than many of its pure-hearted brethren. However, it undercuts that authenticity by lacking strong character motivations and details that would make this story of redemption feel truer.

October 5, 2017 | Full Review…

In the end none of it adds up to much.

Is this the third wave of faith-based filmmaking? If so, bring it on.

October 6, 2017 | Rating: 3/4 | Full Review…

Rough and uneven, Generational Sins is not the sort of film that will be passed along from father to son. It is, however, an adequate vehicle for MacPherson to demonstrate what he's capable of, and that's worth watching.

October 5, 2017 | Rating: 2.5/5 | Full Review…

A dreary, overly self-serious faith-based film, with little to distinguish it outside of some swearing.
