The unsettling atmosphere and gradual tension are matched by a sharp exploration of racism, privilege, and the way prejudice can hide behind seemingly polite behavior. Daniel Kaluuya is excellent, and the twists make the story increasingly disturbing without feeling completely random. A few moments are exaggerated, but the social commentary and filmmaking make it much more than a typical horror movie.
