Director Ben Affleck displays sensitivity to his story's thematic undercurrents, but he hasn't yet developed the authorial voice needed to enliven the conventional plotting.

A superior, haunting thriller of abduction, deception and ethical dilemma with a sobering ending - a moral quandary that demands strong debate outside the cinema.

Oct 15, 2016Ben Affleck's directorial and screenplay efforts are a fascinating take in Gone Baby Gone. The film puts you in a vice-like grip with its emotional story, enthralling performances and even its striking and divisive twist that is emphatic and brilliant in every way. 4.5/5Eugene B Super Reviewer

Oct 07, 2012Disconcertingly intelligent and marvelously scripted, Gone Baby Gone isn't an easy film to come to terms with, but it's well worth putting in the effort.Isaac H Super Reviewer

Mar 18, 2012There is a heart to Gone Baby Gone that sucks the viewer in and grabs them from the second the film starts. Ben Affleck directs his brother Casey Affleck to perfection, displaying Casey in one of the best roles of his career. The story is told brilliantly, almost in two separate parts, and raising almost unanswerable dilemmas that the characters face. Gone Baby Gone delivers gripping situations and rich character development in a way unmatched by any similar missing children storylines.Christopher H Super Reviewer
