Isabel Quigly The Spectator 04/30/2020
A film of remarkable charm, made up of small, intimate touches, sure and exactly suit- able performances, a perfect command of sound --in the Mississippi swamplands -- as well as vision, and a delicacy of taste, humour and suggestion. Go to Full Review

Steve D 07/06/2023 Low rent Yearling with good cast. See more ashley h @ashleyhobgood87 02/04/2020 Goodbye, My Lady is an okay film. It is about an old man and a young boy who live in the southeastern Mississippi swamps are brought together by the love of a dog. Walter Brennan and Phil Harris give decent performances. The screenplay is a little slow. William A. Wellman did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the drama. See more 08/10/2017 This movie is a wonderful surprise. It is one of the best - if not the very best Hollywood dog movies. Fleishman's writing is real south - not phony . The actors are superb. It's a perfect confluence of writing and acting. The story is touching but not overly tragic or melodramatic. The film was obviously shot on location somewhere in the southern swamps. This flick is an unknown jewel.
