Max H @max_hale Dec 23 Gypsy’s Revenge is a heartbreaking and shocking true-crime documentary based on real events, following the murder of Dee Dee Blanchard as well as the life story of Gypsy Rose Blanchard. It presents a long-lasting, burdensome, staged, yet highly complex relationship, and raises important but difficult psychological questions. I do not wish to spoil the story for those who may not be familiar with it, so I will approach the film strictly from a critical perspective. The documentary fully holds its ground: it is well-constructed, informative, and progresses along a carefully thought-out timeline, with occasional detours to enhance its dramatic impact. It is clear that the film was not simply thrown together. Overall, this is a decent documentary. One should not expect a masterpiece, but I do believe it is worth watching for those who enjoy true-crime documentaries based on real events.
