Claudio C @Claudio666 Jan 19 Despite the Stupid Attitudes, a Good Zombie Movie (12,209 – 18 Jan 2026) In New Guinea, a top-secret experiment of the Hope Center Chemical Factory goes awry, and chemicals are accidentally released, turning people into zombies. The journalist Lia Rousseau and her cameraman Pierre are assigned to tell to the world what is happeningthere and four soldiers are assigned to a secret mission. When their Jeep stumbles upon Lia's Land Rover, they have to defend themselves against a zombie attack. "Virus", a.k.a. "Hell of the Living Dead" (1980), is a good zombie movie. The story is not bad, but the screenplay is silly. The four experienced soldiers learn that the zombies die with a single shot in thevhead, but; they waste their ammunition. Lia screams all the time; take her clothes off to visit the Indians among other stupidities. Pierre, Zantoro and Osborne are ridiculous for men with their profiles. My vote is seven. Title (Brazil): "Os Predadores da Noite" ("The Predators of the Night") See more Jens B @Jens97 03/15/2025 This film delivers exactly what you'd expect from a trashy flick helmed by Bruno Mattei. Or to put it another way: a trashy, moody romp full of 'zombies,' wide-eyed stunners, bad dubbing, cheap effects, cheap sets, stock footage, the score from "Dawn of the Dead," a simple yet incomprehensible plot (Why is the woman suddenly jumping around naked and painted in a native village?), and probably a lot of coke behind the scenes. I can't explain the result any other way. But I'm not complaining either... Only in the middle section does the pace noticeably slow; the whole native thing seems to me to have grown out of "Cannibal Holocaust" and various Mondo documentaries. Like his role models, Mattei also tries to squeeze some half-baked political/socio-critical commentary into his exploitation – it doesn't work, but it only hinders the film for a few minutes. Bonus points go to the soldier with the crazy eyes who shoots the zombie child with his machine gun. See more Jonathan O @RT41230270 12/10/2024 Hell of the Living Dead is absolutely outrageously bad good Italian zombie horror film and is quite actually the guilty pleasure for zombie fans and the filmmaker borrowed the goblin score from dawn of the dead and stole the scenes from the documentary reels of cannibalism but is really disgusting and shocking violent horror film that is actually a horror comedy. I blame Dario Argentine for all the bad Italian zombie movies (his recut of Dawn of the Dead for the Euro market) but this one is particularly awful. Too much bad exposition and preamble, random characters, "elite soldiers" who don't even know how to hold their guns, bad acting, bad script mostly ad libbed, and stock footage thrown in to make Spain look like papa New Guinea. Hard to believe they copied Romero and literally got it all wrong.
