Charles E @pl61ce1 Dec 21 Must see Christmas movie. My family and I watch it most every year. See more Curtis L @RT27189358 Nov 4 This movie was the beginning of The Waltons and a must see Christmas movie. The Homecoming: A Christmas Story is one of the finest Christmas films ever made, and it’s remarkable that it also became the foundation for one of television’s most beloved series, The Waltons. Long before holiday movies relied on spectacle and sentimentality, this film quietly captured what Christmas is really about—family, hope, sacrifice, and unconditional love. Every performance feels genuine, the writing is heartfelt without ever becoming syrupy, and the rural Virginia setting is beautifully authentic. The story unfolds at a gentle pace, allowing you to truly care about every member of the Walton family. By the time John Walton finally makes it home on Christmas Eve, the emotional payoff is deeply moving and thoroughly earned. See more T L @RT61151145 01/09/2025 Such a heartwarming story. Great precursor to The Waltons. Makes you want to be poor and live back in the 30s. See more Keith E @RT56278455 12/20/2024 I don't remember when I first saw this. It was probably a rerun on network TV, shortly after I was married in the 1980s. A few years later, I mentioned it to my wife who surprised me by ordering a VHS copy through Blockbuster. I've since obtained a copy on DVD. It's been an annual favorite since. See more Russ R @RT50144048 11/23/2024 This has become one of our holiday classic favorites, along with "It's a Wonderful Life" and the usual suspects. My father was raised during the depression, and I can't imagine the hardship. A great story, from a beautiful mountain. A different time.
