So if the question of why you're even watching this shit doesn't beg itself long before the half-way mark then you're probably a dickhead. I'm keen to watch more of Ben's work though. He fucked up here but showcased a lot of skill too. Great "Australian" story though........yeah, right.

Very creepy and well made. I liked that it wasn’t overly graphic and left the nasty stuff to the imagination. The setting in 70’s Perth was very familiar to me. Horrible story of course, but well handled.

I tracked this down after finding some reviews on RT weekly consensus. The film has a strong cast and the filmmaking is quite brilliant, the tone is setup from the opening slow motion shot. Curry makes for an unpredictable predator and owns the film from his introduction, you never know where his character will go next. The plot is very original but the final third is the weaker point, I just felt filmmakers missed an opportunity to push the boundaries and resist a bitter sweet ending. It felt too safe and robbed the audience of something true and unpredictable. Look away now if you don't spoilers. The girl makes a hidden code but gets the house incorrect. I would the girl murdered earlier and the wife sitting at the table pondering what happened. The family would come yelling for Vikki, which would resonant with the wife. She would stab the husband in this moment, not bitter sweet or safe. Just my opinion. 26-12-2017.
