Movie Info

In a silent film from Lois Weber, a minister (Herbert Standing) addresses his congregation, urging them to abandon hypocrisy. The crowd reacts negatively and demands the minister's resignation. The story shifts to medieval times, focusing on a monk (Courtenay Foote) creating a sculpture. When the sculpture is revealed to be a nude woman, the monk is killed by an angry mob. These and other narratives come together in a treatise on morality and society.

  • Again has Lois Weber (Mrs. Phillips Smalley) contributed to film theatricals one of those combinations of art, allegory and convincing drama for which she has won just praise and distinction.

  • It is destined, we truly think, to enjoy a long and emphatic popularity.

  • The name is well chosen, inasmuch as Miss Weber does not hesitate to flay hypocrisy in every form. The play is sure to create great discussion, and handled by a less able writer or one with less puritanical ideas would receive adverse criticism.

  • The work of Del Clawson and George W. Hill, in this picture, resulted in the achievement of some fine photographic effects. One scene chows twelve exposures, the film passing through the camera twenty-four times.
