Sarah H @RT31868704 3d The one thing this film truly accomplished 100% better than any move I have ever watched, was it's ability to inspire me to write my FIRST EVER movie review. What was that? I have not idea, there were so many plot holes, so little character development, so little cohesive story line. I would never have thought that Jackie and Arnold would have sold out so badly. This movie was so bad it felt like an entirely AI movie. This movie was so bad it felt like someone took a 4 part mini series and said, BAM, we aren't putting this whole thing out so cut it down to movie size. Swiss cheese has fewer holes. Mold has more character development. Kangaroos and rabbits in a race being chased by rabid dogs run in a straighter line. WOW! That was bad. However, GREAT movie to do laundry or clean your house or put on for a small child. You can miss ALL the plot and be just as well informed as if you were staring at it aptly and taking notes. We've seen the story before, the posturing, the fantasy, the battles, the deception, evil witch who gets it in the end, the princess who regains her kingdom. The plot is messy and confusing, jumping between storylines without direction or purpose. It often feels as though they cut out two hours of footage that might’ve explained what’s going on. The acting doesn’t help much either. Even big names like Jackie Chan and Arnold Schwarzenegger can’t save it from wooden performances and awkward line delivery. The voice dubbing is especially poor — characters’ lips and voices are constantly out of sync, making the film even harder to take seriously. When you learn that the film is a Chinese-Russian co-production, some of the strange choices around tone and dialogue start to make a bit more sense; it’s caught between several filmmaking styles that never quite fit together. Overall, Iron Mask feels like a big-budget fantasy adventure that lost its focus somewhere between Moscow, Beijing, and the editing room. See more David W @RT40887430 Sep 17 Phile.
