Brent H @BrentMHinson Jan 1 A fascinating documentary that illuminates the foundational elements of songwriting.  What this film does best is highlight the highs and lows of life in the music industry.  These songwriters are constantly writing and coming up with ideas in hopes of securing a song that will resonate with a mass audience.  This documentary illustrates the joy of finding just the right word to express the emotion that binds the audience to the song. However, it also doesn’t shy away from the struggles of making that connection. The highlight of the movie comes from watching Jessi Alexander and Connie Harrington, two of the songwriters behind Lee Brice’s poignant song, "I Drive Your Truck", talk about how they took a tragic real-life event and turned it into a beautiful tribute. Thousands of songs are created every day, but only a handful find an audience.  This is a wonderful exploration of the facets that go into creating music that will last for generations.
