Movie Info

Honest and incorruptible, Jai has made it his mission to help as many people as he can. His mantra is quite simple - help somebody and then request that person to lend a helping hand to somebody else. Jai finds himself pitted against a powerful politician who unleashes his violent goons on him. His sister persuades him to make peace with the politician, but when this leads to humiliation, Jai loses his cool and declares all out war - on one side stands the politician with his numerous henchmen and on one side is Jai - alone. But a silent revolution is taking place. The voiceless public, he has helped in the past, is gathering force. It finally has a voice and this voice cannot...will not be silenced.

Critic Reviews for Jai Ho

All Critics (9) | Top Critics (2)

The film claims to champion the power of the common man, but it looks more like Khan and his director brother, Sohail, are intent on underestimating their common sense.

Carries to a new level of slapdash vulgarity the blunt-force, post-"Matrix" style of action moviemaking that rules the roost now in Hindi cinema.

While the notion that the power of the common man shouldn't be underestimated is noble in Jai Ho, I wish its makers had also remembered not to underestimate their common sense.

If you accept that there won't be a semblance of sense in the screenplay, and that the... film is essentially a showreel for Khan to show off his sculpted body, action moves and dance steps, then perhaps you can enjoy the madness that is Jai Ho.

The lead is unbelievable as a common man and the relentless violence overwhelms any message of social uplift.

In all honesty, I'm confused about how to evaluate Jai Ho. Because it's not a film. It's a cartoon.
