10/09/2011 Pretty horribly made documentary, but yet, an important one which, in its muddled way, chronicles the birth of disco and club culture. See more 06/26/2008 Brillant documentary that spotlights the undergound dance music scene in NYC revolving around spots like the famous Paradise Garage & the Loft, and legendary DJs such as Larry Levan & Frankie Knuckles. The raw footage shown in the documentary reflects how huge & powerful the house music scene evolved into because it was about expression and finding a place to unwind while at the same time enjoying yourself through dance & music. Sadly, the movement in NYC was nearly decimated which I felt was honestly explained by Francois K (of Body & Soul fame) based on his life experience but the music still continues on growing from it's birthplace in Chicago to various parts of the world. Watch the movie- you'll have better appreciation of the music that was played then as well as what you're hearing now.
