The Meg is an enjoyable movie if you don’t go in with lofty expectations for a movie about a giant shark that eats a bunch of people. It is the epitome of general audience popcorn fair, and an amusing spectacle.

They tried too hard to make a modern day remake of Jaws. And honestly, I'm sure they wanted you to feel uneasy and slightly frightened, but I just felt nothing. Plus, if we were dealing with this big of a shark, the movie should've been an hour shorter.

for once in my life, i was actually kinda bummed when someone died. i really like how the film doesnt take itself too seriously. because lets be honest, nearly everyone who watches this just wants to see a megalodon cause chaos, and they know that. its actually kinda funny, with some sort of quotable moments. i get where people are coming from when they say this is pretty trashy, but reminder that this was made in 2018, and the only other quite memorable shark movie we had was jaws.

The serious tone promised at the beginning unraveled and the plot meandered its way towards a ridiculous ending. It lacked consistent stakes and therefore cohesion. I don’t know what I just watched.

I am a huge fan of shark movies. Especially megalodons, sharks are my favorite thing on the planet. It's fast-paced, it doesn't have a deep storyline, but it's definitely fun. CGI did absolutely amazing with the sharks.
