Movie Info

Diplomat Talleyrand (Sacha Guitry) reminisces about Napoleon Bonaparte's life upon learning that the legendary ruler has died. Talleyrand tells of a young Napoleon (Daniel Gélin) who rises to power through guile and courage, eventually becoming emperor of France. Later, an older and more jaded Napoleon (Raymond Pellegrin) wonders what all his accomplishments mean, now that he must face constant political squabbles and, eventually, exile and imprisonment.
