Critic Reviews for Outrage
The picture has a message of hope for such girls and mistreated women who feel themselves in an abyss of despair through no fault of their own.
Producer Collier Young, Director Lupino and Malvin Wald wrote the screenplay. Everything has been done with their usual good taste, and freedom from sensationalism.
It's a grim story... but it carries a worthwhile message to girls who undergo such a terrifying and humiliating experience. It also deplores the unkind attitude that unfeeling people adopt toward victims of rape.December 15, 2020 | Rating: 2.5/4 | Full Review…
I do not quarrel with the pertinence of these subjects to our lives today, but rather with the treatment of them.
Its screenplay, direction and acting simply aren't powerful, real or even convincing enough and it runs to tedium.
This 1950 film by Ida Lupino may not be stylistically original or completely successful, but it does treat the subject of rape with real sensitivity, especially for its era.March 21, 2019 | Full Review…
