A few moments drag a bit too long but overall an opportunity to understand the dynamics of show. Pedophiles, whether they have 1 or 100 victims, or even if they try and fail, are still predatory. Who cares if their OWN behavior ruins their lives when their actions will forever mar the lives of their victims? Even the worst outcomes are literally the consequences of their own actions. One can only be entrapped if the end goal is desirable to them. You may be able to entice a decent person into stealing, but it would be impossible to entice a decent person to sexually assault a child. The fact that this has such good ratings is proof of this country's pedophilic rape culture. I hope someone is keeping an eye on the creator of this movie - his empathy toward predators is suspect. This documentary wants to make the PREDATORS who thought they were talking to CHILDREN, into the victims. This documentary is DISGUSTING in my opinion. I couldn't stomach watching it as it showed VERY early on they were headed that direction. To act like these ADULTS who were even talking like that to who they believed were children are victims is disturbing. To Catch A Predator was a show we obviously needed and still need, due to the fact that this country is in the state it's in now. These PREDATORS weren't forced to talk to underage victims or to go visit them. So just think what if there wasn't a camera crew and police there to arrest these individuals?? The children they were going to visit would be real children abused by these grown PREDATORS who KNEW EXACTLY why they were going. Paramount and ANY platform showing this needs at least a disclaimer saying they support criminals and warning the audience. At the end of the day there is no room for empathy or for two things to be true at the same time. If these individuals’ lives were ruined, they did that entirely on their own. Had this show not happened it would have likely been their lives and an innocent child’s life that was ruined forever. A take like this is dangerous and disrespectful to victims like myself. These men make choices. They chose to go into the chat rooms. They chose to research chat rooms that allowed this behaviour and they chose to act and say what they wanted. There is only room for accountability and making any sort of expectation of your audience to have compassion or empathy for these individuals is wild. You then remove their responsibility and framed it as to make you make your audience see them as victims. Dangerous and horrendous film making. Do better See more M. C @RT41253261 Oct 3, 2026 The problem with this documentary is that it criticises To Catch a Predator for presenting events through the producers’ and Chris Hansen’s point of view through editing and production , but then does the same using framing to encourage sympathy for the people caught and clearly guides you towards its own conclusion. It’s basically the other side of the same coin. It also feels hypocritical when it shows the predators’ faces and reminds us 20 or 30 years later who they are and why their lives were ruined. To send a message of reasonable anonymity to these men for the crime Ultimately, I don’t feel bad for anyone caught on the show. The potential harm they could have caused others far outweighs the public humiliation they experienced. Hansen seems self-obsessed, but that isn’t a crime. See more Read all reviews
